Since our founding in 1990, SABTACO has grown into a national organisation representing thousands of members in science and engineering disciplines.Our membership covers practitioners, graduates, technicians and students in the technical disciplines including:

Our Membership is categorized into public and private companies, practitioners and employees in the relevant technical disciplines. We also have student chapters in many tertiary institutions around the country.

SABTACO has active branches in all the nine provinces of South Africa; the process of creating strategic alliances with similar organisations globaly is on-going.



Our mission is to facilitate the creation of an environment conducive to the
development and promotion of technology for the socio-economic development of South Africa.

Our Objectives involve the following :

• To advance and promote theory and practice of technical disciplines in the black community.
• To promote the interests of our members and other stakeholders
• To address the unique problems, needs and aspirations of black professionals.
• Promoting high standards of professionalism
• To promote technical education and training
• To conduct research in technical disciplines and to assist and co-operate with any statutory or other bodies concerned.
